American singer and the songwriter Edward Joseph Mahoney has died Friday at age 70. The singer’s family confirmed his death this morning in a statement to Variety. “The Eddie Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

The singer revealed the diagnosis of stage 4 esophageal cancer last month. He was diagnosed while shooting the second season of the reality TV show AXS that surrounds his family, Real Money. His wife Laurie said he had also spread to his stomach and liver.

Many of Money’s accomplishments in the 1970s and 1980s were crucial, including Two Tickets to Paradise, Shakin, Baby Hold On and Take Me Home Tonight. In a real money episode about the diagnosis, Money admitted that the diagnosis hit him hard, but he still had an optimistic outlook. “Am I going to live for a long time? Who knows? It’s in God’s hands. But you know what? I’ll take every day I can get. Every day above ground is a good day.”

Last year, Ace Frehley talked about the success of Money in the 80s, “I Wanna Go Back”, and told us that since “Two Tickets to Paradise”, I’m a fan of Eddie Money. Ironically, when Eddie Money left, I went to Manhattan in this club where I hung up and, without knowing it, Eddie Money was playing. He had just released his first album and was playing in small clubs, and he loved it. I thought it was great. I liked the style and the way she looked and was with this girl and she said, “Hi, that’s cute.” Jimmy Lyons, his lead guitarist, was an excellent guitarist and the song structure was good. So I took the album, fell in love and played a lot. So I’m a fan of Eddie Money since his first album, and I came back with the album that was “I Wanna Go Back”. ” Money was also a close friend of the late Ronnie James Dio’s family and had participated in several Ride for Ronnie concerts in recent years.
